Rebar cutting calculator: cut list optimizer
Enter your bar schedule and stock lengths, and the calculator lays the pieces across stock bars so scrap is as small as possible. It solves the one-dimensional cutting stock problem, not a greedy fill: kerf is reserved on every cut, and offcuts longer than your threshold are credited back to the next job. You get cutting patterns, steel utilization percentage and the list of remaining stock.

Standards
One-dimensional cutting of custom stock lengths, including 6 m and 12 m bars. EN 10080 grades. BS 8666:2020 schedule import with shape codes and dimensions; calculated lengths for codes 00, 11, 21, 23, 31, 32, 41, 44, 51 and 52.

Questions
Which stock bars are supported?
Standard 11.7 m bars and any custom length, including several stock sizes in the same run.
Are remnants accounted for?
Yes, usable remnants are credited toward the next cutting plan, and scrap is tallied separately.
Can I import a UK bar bending schedule?
Yes. Bar marks, shape codes and dimensions are retained. The total quantity is checked against members multiplied by bars per member. If the schedule only says H, select the steel grade explicitly before importing.
Can the calculator derive cut lengths from dimensions?
Yes, for the listed supported shape codes. Enter a scheduled cut length for other codes, including custom shape 99. A supplied length is kept unchanged.
What about bars longer than the stock?
They are reported as uncut unless you explicitly enable a welded joint. The designer must approve the joint and welding procedure.
