Construction site
Bill of quantities from a cost estimate, grouped by section
The tool turns estimate lines into a compact bill of quantities: it groups rows by section in order of first appearance, computes the cost of each line, the section subtotal, and the overall total. Lines are entered manually or uploaded from Excel using the template.
Standards
The schedule follows the layout used by construction planning departments: section, unit rate code, description, unit of measure, quantity, unit price, cost.
Input
Estimate lines: section, code, description, unit, quantity, unit price. Entered manually or uploaded from Excel using the template.

Questions
Is the section mandatory?
No. Lines with no section are collected into a separate group and still count toward the overall total.
What if no unit price is given?
The schedule is still built from quantities; cost is not computed for that line and it does not enter the total.
Is the section order preserved?
Yes, sections appear in the order in which they first occur in the source lines.
